The challenge
“We were looking to simplify staff management, and more recently, payroll, too.”
Wild Hearth Bakery is a wholesale bakery based in Perthshire, Scotland. With 35 employees, staff management started to become a challenge for the business.
“Tracking all hours, annual leave, sick leave and so on was a tricky task,” says Hamish. Organising teams of bakers, drivers, evening packers and operations staff was proving to be difficult to manage without HR software in place.
The bakery needed an all-in-one tool for staff management, capable of tracking leave, rotas and clock ins for staff working various shift patterns. And after switching to BrightHR software, it then became clear they needed a payroll software too.
The solution
“BrightHR is very intuitive and doesn’t take much time to get used to.”
For Wild Hearth Bakery, BrightHR’s easy-to-use layout and fair cost stood out when looking for the right HR software, but what really mattered was having ‘rotas and employee clock ins all in one place’.
“Having everything contained in one place makes things so much more straightforward,” says Hamish.
The bakery has been using the BrightHR app to manage everything from holidays, sick leave and rotas: “Producing rotas for employees is so simple.”
And the Blip clock in app has made it easy to track staff hours, especially with employees working varied shifts, from early bakery starts, on-the-go delivery drivers, to late-night packing staff.
To complete its people management, the bakery then looked into introducing a payroll solution – and since BrightHR Payroll works smoothly with the HR software, it was a no brainer.
“We’re a couple of months into making the switch to BrightHR Payroll, too. After working out the details, we’re close to a very streamlined process, saving us many hours every month,” says Hamish.
