BrightHR Software / A Bright start to the new year

Before you can do this, you need to enable vacation carryover in Settings.
You’ll find Settings on the top right of any page.
There’s a section here called 'Absence and Entitlement' and you'll need to make changes to the 'Annual Leave Carryover' option by selecting 'Enable'. Ensure you click the pink 'Update' button at the bottom of the screen if you do make any changes in the settings area.
Now you need to find the employee who has vacation entitlement to carry over. Head to the Employee hub — this appears on the left on the navigation bar.
You can either type your employee’s name into the search bar, or find them from the full list. Once you’ve found your employee, select 'View full profile'.
On the first page you arrive to you will see the absence details.
Select the vacation year you wish to add the carryover to and click 'Update carryover'.
This will open a pop-up - type in the number of days of vacation you wish to carry over and click the pink save button. The additional days will now be added to the vacation for that leave year for this particular employee. To use their carried over vacation, they follow the usual vacation request process.
Yes they can! However, this is all dependent on whether you have enabled the setting for them to do so.
First, check the settings section and ensure that 'Use TOIL balance' is set to everyone - remember to click update at the bottom if you make any chnages.
Once the setting has been enabled, the employee can either add TOIL via the overtime section of their profile, by clicking "Use TOIL" which will allow them to book an absence using their time off in Lieu, or they can simply "Request an absence" and select the absence type,TOIL, from the drop down menu.
The TOIL absence will deduct from the TOIL balance rather than the annual leave entitlement.
