To see absences within a date range you need to generate an absence report.
Head to Reports on the Navigation bar and click Absence.
You can choose whether to download the report as a CSV (spreadsheet) or a PDF.
Then click the pink button to create your absence report.
Q. How do I change whether public holidays are deducted or not deducted from an employee’s holiday entitlement?
Head to Settings in the top right.

You can choose whether public holidays are deducted or not deducted from an employee’s holiday entitlement at the bottom of the form.
Don’t forget to click . Changes aren’t saved automatically, so this is really important.

Q. How do I see if public holidays are deducted from an employee’s annual leave entitlement?
You can see this information on the employee’s profile.
You’ll find your employees in the Employees section—this appears in the navigation bar on the left.
You can either type your employee’s name into the search bar, or find them in the list of employees. Once you’ve found your employee, select View full profile.
Click on the Employment tab then scroll down to Place of work. You'll see a section called Public holidays for—underneath the jurisdiction field you can see whether public holidays are deducted or not.
TOIL stands for time off in lieu. It can also be known as lieu bank.
This is when an employee works overtime and wishes to use this time to take another day as opposed to being paid for the overtime.
Head to your profile and select Overtime from the bar on the left. Then click the Log overtime button to get started.
In here, enter dates and times that you worked this overtime, add any notes you'd like your manager to see and click the Log overtime button.
You'll then recieve a handy notification once this has been approved by your manager.

You can either type your employee’s name into the search bar, or find them in the full list. Once you’ve found your employee, select View full profile.
Select Overtime from the bar across the top. Then click the Log overtime button to get started.
Next, enter the dates and times of the overtime worked to accrue this TOIL and add any notes.
Then, select the TOIL option to set this overtime as being rewarded with Time off in Lieu and enter the duration of this overtime. Now just hit the Log overtime button to save and add this to the employee's TOIL balance.

Select Overtime from the bar across the top. Then click the Use TOIL button, under your existing TOIL balance.
Enter the TOIL details and click the pink button to save your changes.
All staff are able to request overtime to be added to their balance and TOIL absences, this can then be approved by the employee’s manager.
Just head to your BrightHR settings and ensure that your overtime settings are set as ‘Everyone’ to enable this.
Yes, just head to your settings to enable this handy feature.
Select the Manager option if you just wish for managers and admins to record overtime on behalf of your employees.
Or, set overtime as Everyone to allow employees to request overtime. This can then be approved or declined by their manager.
